Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Britain.

The objectives of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Britain (WTBTS) are to advance the Christian religion as practiced by the body of Christian persons known as Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is accomplished in particular but not exclusively by purchasing, constructing and renovating properties for use by Jehovah’s Witnesses as places of worship as well as for other purposes to support the Charity’s objectives.

Our Activities

The charity engages in acts of charity, mercy, and humanitarian aid and distributing funds and goods to other entities that have similar aims and objectives in countries spread throughout the world.

The major areas of activities currently include supporting entities of Jehovah’s Witnesses with similar aims and objectives abroad. These donations have been in the form of goods such as paper for printing and software licences. All such donations have promoted religious activity overseas. This activity also includes sending funds directly, primarily to such entities in developing countries, where funds are limited. These are used for activities such as construction of places of worship and disaster relief.

Section 172(1) Statement

The board of trustees takes into account the likely consequences of long-term decisions; build relationships with stakeholders; understand the importance of engaging with our volunteers; understand the impact of our operations on the communities within which we operate; and attribute importance to behaving as a responsible organisation.

The board of trustees consider, both individually and together, that through their strategic planning and decision making, that they have acted in the way they consider, in good faith, would be most likely to promote the success of the charity for the benefit of its stakeholders as a whole (having regard to the stakeholders and matters set out in s172(1)(a-f) of the Act) in the decisions taken during the year ended 31 August 2024.

Throughout the trustees’ report examples are given where the trustees continue to exercise their duties with regard to matters related to Section 172. For instance, in the public benefit section, the trustees confirm that they have taken into regard the impact of the charity’s operations on the community.

As the board of trustees, our intention is to behave responsibly and ensure that management operate the charity in a responsible manner, operating within the high standards of business conduct and good governance expected for a charity such as ours, and in doing so, will contribute to the delivery of our objectives and aims.
